The Domino Foundation is hosting a workshop on transracial adoption:
Understanding Whiteness
Tuesday June 28th at 6pm
"If race is a reality, then acknowledging the whiteness of ourselves is just as important as honoring the beautiful color of our transracially adopted children. Explore the characteristics of... whiteness--what it means to be white, the privilege associated with it, and the experience of racial dominance. In order to build a truly equal and equitable world for our children of color, we need to understand the power that has been exerted to protect and privilege white people--historically, politically, educationally, and culturally. This is a difficult but necessary conversation in the racial identity development of our transracially adopted children, since white is the backdrop of the world they are likely to experience. Please join us for this informative workshop."
